Japanese Bridge, or The Bridge in Monet’s Garden was painted by internationally famous artist Oscar-Claude Monet many times from the 1890s until his death in 1926. This example well typifies Monet’s liberal, animated brush technique and lively use of colour.
The bridge was built to span the pond Monet had constructed in his garden of his home at Giverny. Monet founded the Impressionist school of art, and Japanese Bridge is an excellent and lively example of the style.
